Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • PhD in a Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry or a related field of study
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience in molecular mycology is preferred, and applicants should be well versed in technologies such as CRISPR-Cas9, RNAi etc.
  • Experience with host interactions
  • Past experience working with mouse models for fungal pathogens
  • Strong background in the molecular biology of microorganisms (fungal genetic manipulation)
  • Experience in immunology and recombinant protein chemistry
  • Ability to work as a member of a team

Description of Duties:

  • The position will be a part of a bustling NIH funded research environment that is active in areas of molecular biology, fungal immunology and pathogenesis of fungal/bacterial organisms and drug development.
  • The research projects focus on identifying signaling pathways governing biofilm dispersal in Candida albicans, and will utilize medicinal chemistry approaches to discover novel inhibitors of biofilm formation and dispersal.
  • Cloning, CRISP-CAs, RNA, other molecular approaches to make mutants in fungi/bacteria
  • PCR, RT PCR
  • Southern/Northern Western Blot
  • Yeast genetics
  • Mammalian tissue culture
  • Cell-base assay
  • Flow cytometry
  • Write grants
  • Conduct independent research
