Job Description

Part Time: 21 Hours Per Week

Purpose: To provide case management to Holocaust Survivors from the Former Soviet Union (FSU) and to coordinate and implement outreach efforts for survivors.    

Responsibilities:

  • Provide case management to Holocaust Survivors who meet the eligibility criteria of the Claims Conference grants which includes conducting home visits, assessing client’s needs through the Diagnostic Assessment tool, assisting clients in getting services and making appropriate referrals.
  • Screen Holocaust Survivors from the Former Soviet Union for eligibility and ensure that all screening documents are obtained and submitted to the Program Manager.
  • Draft and submit emergency assistance as needed.
  • Assist Holocaust Survivors from the Former Soviet Union with reparation applications and other benefit applications.
  • Draft and maintain progress notes in client files and/or the electronic case management system, Next Step.
  • Translate letters, documents and flyers into Russian for mailings as appropriate.
  • Fill out request forms for Russian older adults for Moas Chitim.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager and other Holocaust Survivor Program staff concerning grants and programming.
  • Participate in supervision meetings with the Program Manager twice a month, or as needed.
  • Work closely with Aviv staff and attend Aviv staff meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate and implement outreach efforts for Holocaust Survivors from the Former Soviet Union including creating flyers for Russian newspaper and social media, contacting high rises and senior centers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • The individual must speak and write in Russian sufficiently to communicate with clients that only speak Russian or have limited English.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Applicants must speak and write in Russian. Social work degree or relevant job experience preferred.
