Job Description

Purpose: To provide counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and outreach services at Ben Massell Dental Clinic for domestic violence survivors, through the Shalom Bayit Program; to provide clinical services to a range of agency clients; to provide outreach educational programming, particularly around issues of abuse.    

Responsibilities:

Under supervision of the Shalom Bayit Program Director and Ben Massell Social Service Manager, and within the scope of the JF&CS Clinical Services Program, the social worker will provide mental health counseling and case management to Dental Clinic patients with a focus on survivors of domestic violence and abuse as specified in the Victims of Crime Act as well as other funders and accrediting bodies. The social worker will also provide counseling for general clinical counseling program.

The social worker will participate on program teams to support other activities as needed for ongoing development of the Shalom Bayit Program in addition to assisting with daily operations of the Ben Massell Social Service Department within the scope of the JF&CS Clinical Services Program.

Specific duties include:

  • Individual and group psychotherapy/counseling
  • Case management, crisis intervention, resource navigation and advocacy
  • Conducting psycho-social intake assessments
  • Conducting goal oriented safety and/or service planning

Responsibilities also include:

  • Participating in the daily operations of the Ben Massell Social Service Department including new patient eligibility screenings and needs assessments.
  • Participating in community educational programs around issues of abuse.
  • Adhering to agency, accrediting body, and funder requirements for administrative, training, and other responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, with LMSW Licensure or Equivalent level licensure
  • Understanding of dynamics, root causes, and appropriate interventions for domestic violence and poverty.
  • To act in accordance with NASW Code of Ethics
  • Personal qualifications of warmth, sensitivity, insight. The ability to be self-directed, adaptable, and work well with individuals form different backgrounds and community groups.
  • Ability for clear self-expression both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer skills

Education and/or Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, with LMSW Licensure or Equivalent level licensure
