Description

Field Engineer Earthworks

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • 2 to 3 years of construction engineering experience and/or training
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • General proficiency of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering
  • Must have the physical ability necessary to make field visits and inspect on-going construction performed by project earthwork contractor
  • Experience working with a heavy civil general contractor in earthworks and dam projects will be highly regarded
  • Organizational ability – able to plan, prioritize, organize and monitor activities and projects
  • Able to work well in a group environment and foster a team approach

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors, tracks and reports construction activities to assure conformance with drawings and specifications
  • Helps with procurement packages for various elements of work to obtain quotes and draft contracts. Prepares comparatives for approval
  • Prepares construction work plan packages/submittals, RFI’s and coordinates pre-construction meetings to ensure that all prerequisites needed to start construction activities are completed
  • Prepares daily reports, field deliveries and inspections, purchase orders, subcontractor invoices, costs and quantities
  • Calculates take offs, assists to prepare monthly payments, schedules updates
  • Develops and manages relationships with owners, subcontractors, consultants and field personnel
  • Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
