Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Senior Logistic Manager/Operations Maintenance and Readiness (OM&R)


Job ResponsibilitiesThe Subject Matter Expert Senior Logistic Manager shall provide support in the area of Operational Maintenance and Readiness planning for the DDG-100 Program Office (PMS 500). It will require monitoring and reporting on maintenance procedure development, maintenance manpower requirements, and shipboard software used to schedule and report on maintenance requirements and actions.  This position requires fifteen (15+) or more years of Navy business experience.  Examples of work associated with this position are detailed below.

Essential Functions:

  • Recommend the extent to which a Performance Based Logistics support strategy should be used for maintenance and assist in the implementation of an appropriate Performance Based Logistics approach.
  • Monitor and report on DDG 1000 Reliability, Maintainability and Availability (RM&A) predictions.
  • Possess Navy staff experience, Naval shipyard, Supervisor of Shipbuilding, and/or TYCOM staff experience.
  • Use in-depth knowledge of Reliability, Maintenance and Availability (RMA) ship acquisition program office reporting requirements.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; or in lieu of degree a related field experience is required
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • US citizenship required
  • At least fifteen (15) of Navy business experience required, with ten (10) years being supervisory experience in analyses, information systems, and implementation of ACAT1 acquisition logistics projects required; and five (5) or more years in Navy acquisition logistics strategy and process development, implementation, and control required


  • Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance at the SECRET level.


  • Support is centered at the Washington Navy Yard headquarters, but will extend to San Diego, California and Bath, Maine to support bi-costal activities and stakeholders
