Under the direction of the Support Services Administrator, the Programmer/Analyst III will be the primary application administrator for VBPL's Integrated Library System (ILS), which is the database that integrates circulation, catalog of materials, acquisitions functions, customer accounts, system reports, and data related activities; provides support for system maintenance, downtime, and issues.
Assist staff and customers with issues related to the ILS and peripheral hard and software applications; run and sustain reporting systems; provides support for system maintenance, downtime, perform maintenance and upgrades and keep updates on latest enhancements to software; systems modifications and interfaces to include analysis, design, development/coding, testing, implementation, and documentation; troubleshoot staff and customer problems, issues and concerns; and administer daily tasks in support of the systems.
Individual will collaborate with City IT staff, library staff, and vendors with reporting, troubleshooting and determining appropriate corrective action
Analyze, design, code, test and maintain complex application programs and computerized information systems and apply a variety of acceptable programming languages to complete assigned tasks
Develop training documentation, guides, and checklists and offer both formal and informal training
Document all programming functions according to departmental standards.
Develop briefings, reports, and presentations for Library Leadership, staff, organizational partners, and Library & City teams
Lead and participate in Library, City, and professional organization teams and project groups
Cultivate relationships within the national and international ILS community and library organizations to stay current and innovative with technology initiatives and trends
Assist with the administration, upgrade, replacement, and maintenance of other library systems including but not limited to: PC activity management and printing, Automated Materials Handling Systems for check-in and check-out of materials; Joint-Use library interface; credit card payment systems
Supervision of Technology Services paraprofessional team members
Collaborate with multiple branch staff at all levels
Communicate technology systems for all users
Project management, documentation, and reporting
MINIMUMS: Requires any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to six (6) years in fields utilizing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, and associated with such positions as Programmer Analyst or Systems Analyst. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
