Our National Risk Consulting Services team is looking for an ambitious Underwriting Specialist who will utilize their strong portfolio management skills and underwriting experience to provide technical guidance to Sovereign’s underwriting practices. What you’re responsible for:

  • Leading or participating in the analysis of the underwriting portfolio to drive and maintain profitability.

  • Supporting the formulation, preparation, maintenance of policy wordings, guidelines, on-line underwriting manuals and resource tools.

  • Participating in the development and formulation of corporate underwriting standards, appetite, and philosophy as well as the development of new Property and Casualty products.

  • Leading or participating in the underwriting audit process including follow up support to ensure action plans to address issues identified in the audit occur in a timely manner.

  • Maintaining forms, files, records as well as preparing reports, information and presentations as required.

To join our team:

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial underwriting, with at least 5 at the senior or specialist level. 

  • Strong analytical skills and an understanding of portfolio analysis metrics

  • Experience in multi-line and/or property/inland marine underwriting an asset.

  • Experience training, coaching, and mentoring individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.

  • Proven project and change management skills with the ability to deliver on deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
