The Fundraising Copywriter reports to the Director of Creative and Campaigns and is responsible for writing fundraising and engagement emails, letters, landing pages, phone scripts, newsletters, magazines and other supporter driven copy that drives results; editing and managing copy produced by outside vendors for consistency with CARE's style/voice; and managing the copy development process from concept approval to final output.

The copywriter will work within a dynamic creative/marketing team, flexibly shifting between projects in a fast-paced environment. Candidates will be expected to read and interpret programmatic documents, data, and news stories, translating them into content that compels people to take action. The position is highly collaborative, driving ideation and innovation around approaches to all copywriting materials. The position will have a focus on fundraising materials, but also include other copy to support marketing’s goals and organizational mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for writing key fundraising materials
  • Manage and edit all fundraising copy
  • Optimize for best practice
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism or a related field
  • 3-5 years of proven experience as a copywriter doing fundraising email writing with proven metric examples of success
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills in English
  • Excellent organizational, time-management and leadership skills with proven abilities in coordinating people and operations
  • A creative and collaborative spirit with outstanding communication and people abilities
