Summary:

The Hotel Engineer performs daily maintenance and upkeep of the property equipment, such as air conditioning units, kitchen equipment, electrical maintenance, guest room maintenance and exterior maintenance.    

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Respond and attend to guest room repair requests. Perform all surface preparation, painting, drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement and the complete and thorough clean-up of the painting or repair area.
  2. Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment, plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical components including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guest room items.
  3. Program TV’s and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties.
  4. Display basic knowledge in the following categories:
    1. Air conditioning and refrigeration
    2. Electrical
    3. Mechanical
    4. Plumbing
    5. Pneumatic/electronic systems and controls
    6. Carpentry and finish skills
    7. Carpet/flooring maintenance
  5. Follow all company, safety and security policies and procedures; reporting any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials.
  6. Properly document and log all projects and room calls, providing status updates and completion notices as required.
  7. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, supporting team and common goals.
  8. Speak clearly using professional language.
  9. Maintain neat and friendly appearance at all times inclusive of all job areas, using cover clothing when needed to maintain clean appearance.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of common tools and equipment used in maintenance work; grounds maintenance methods and techniques; trees, plants, flowers, and shrubs; operation and maintenance of tools and equipment used in maintenance; basic safety precautions and procedures; the materials, tools, and methods used in general building repair and maintenance; use of hand and power tools.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
