Position Overview:

Fair Trade USA's newly formed Data Team works with departments across the organization to collect, manage and share data about Fair Trade USA’s business and the impact of our work.  The organization is committed to being excellent stewards of our data while working quickly to create meaningful data insights that can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of our programs and deliver supply chain insights to our partners.

The Data Analyst will work directly with Data Scientists, Engineers, and Program Analysts on the Data Team as well as collaborate with multiple departments to implement new tools and methodologies that will allow for optimation data collection, analysis, and visualization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Innovate, build, and implement code-based solutions and database infrastructure that facilitate prompt analysis of received information
  • Implement ongoing Producer and Transaction database record management
  • Provide key input for internal teams to innovate data analysis methodology
  • Operate and innovate a Salesforce-based data cleansing tool to centrally convert reported data to uniform values
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis and visualize data, as needed by internal and external customers
  • Oversee systematic certification communications
  • Work effectively in an agile framework as a team member, supporting peers and providing insights and solutions to help improve external customer service as well as internal procedures

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Must be proficient in SQL or another query language
  • Must show demonstrated knowledge in a programming language, preferably Python 
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications (most notably Excel)
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills  
  • Must be detail-oriented, logical, systematic, methodical, highly organized, able to problem solve and often work autonomously
  • Experience with auditing, reconciling, collecting, and analyzing data and reports is desired
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, adaptable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Strong work ethic, and likes to have fun on the job
  • Fluency in English required
