TNTP seeks a Temporary Instructional Manager to support projects across our Client Team Group. This position may be based in a home office anywhere in the U.S. and is available immediately.

We are currently seeking individuals to join TNTP’s temporary pool, TNTP Temps, to fill part-time temporary roles across the organization. TNTP Temp candidates will provide TNTP groups with additional capacity to complete priority projects or provide coverage during staff transitions and leaves. Candidates who are selected to be part of the pool will be contacted when assignments that match with their skills, abilities, and experience become available. Assignments will vary in length with most lasting between 2 weeks and 3-4 months. Work through the TNTP Temps pool is not guaranteed. 

What You’ll Do

We anticipate a need for temporary employees in our external facing work in TNTP’s Client Team Group, which works alongside teachers, school leaders, districts and states to help them achieve their goals for students. 

Assignments will vary depending on each team’s needs and the candidate’s experience and skills. Once matched to an assignment, all TNTP Temps will be expected to:

  • Work closely with the project lead/manager to determine deliverables and deadlines
  • Meet tight deadlines and deliver high-quality work
  • Collaborate with other members of the TNTP staff
  • Respond to feedback and incorporate that feedback into the project/assignment

The Temporary Instructional Manager will partner with our teams, and may include responsibilities such as: 

  • Supporting the development and execution of approaches that will improve the quality of instruction in districts and/or individual schools
  • Designing professional development for teachers 
  • Providing coaching to teachers that results in immediate, measurable improvement in student achievement
  • Tracking and communicating teacher growth and development to team members
  • Serving as a resource on related projects

  • Know great teaching and learning that prepares students for success in college and career when you see it. Whether you are watching how students engage during a lesson or looking at student performance data, you can identify whether students are grappling with the right content and diagnose what needs to happen to improve student learning outcomes immediately and in the long-term. You understand the implications of the shifts in instruction required by standards such as the Common Core for students, teachers, school leaders and district staff and how the different elements of the standards (the research, the shifts, the standards, math progressions, etc.) work together.
  • Develop teachers at varied points in their career. You track and analyze teacher data, but it’s what you do with it that really has an impact. Based on your data analysis and what you see in the classroom, you identify new approaches to improve performance of teachers under a quick timeline.


  • Deep knowledge of content and instruction, with at least two years of PreK-8 teaching experience, preferably in high-need schools or with high-need populations, and a proven track record of raising student achievement
  • Previous experience with coaching and/or facilitating professional development for teachers 
  • Strong familiarity and experience with the Common Core State Standards 
  • Immediate understanding of what effective teaching looks like and a deep commitment to the importance of effective and rigorous instruction
  • Ability to track and analyze data on teacher and student performance to uncover trends and act strategically and effectively to improve results
  • Ability to communicate direct feedback in a compelling way that inspires teachers to make immediate improvements to instruction that will accelerate their students’ achievement
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently amidst competing priorities
  • Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity
  • Comfort with receiving and sharing constructive feedback
