Seeking an instructional leader committed to ensuring all students have outstanding teachers in Los Angeles!
TNTP seeks a full-time Project Director for the RootsLA team. This position will be based in Los Angeles, CA and is available for an immediate start. Moderate travel (up to 40%) is required.
Who We Are
TNTP is a national nonprofit founded by teachers that believes our nation’s public schools can offer all children an excellent education. Today we’re a diverse team from a wide range of fields, united by a fierce commitment to helping school systems end educational inequality and achieve their goals for students. We work at every level of the public education system to attract and train talented teachers and school leaders, ensure rigorous and engaging classrooms, and create environments that prioritize great teaching and accelerate student learning.
TNTP is excited to launch RootsLA, an innovative teacher pipeline and training program that aims to attract, select and grow effective teachers to teach Los Angeles’ schools. In the inaugural year, we will recruit and train 25 college juniors from Los Angeles who want to return to their home communities to make an impact through teaching. RootsLA will offer college juniors an immersive summer training experience and an opportunity to earn a job offer before heading off into senior year. The RootsLA team will work with charter school partners to engage fellows throughout their final college year and ensure they are ready to lead their own classroom in the Fall of 2019.
Our goal is for RootsLA teachers to have the content expertise and culturally responsive practices required to achieve significant academic gains with students, effect continuous and sustained improvement over time within their placement schools and districts, and dramatically improve student achievement in Los Angeles. TNTP has partnered with Great Public Schools Now to grow this program up to 75 fellows over three years.
