SI is implementing a one-year extension of the Democracy and Governance (DG) Monitoring and Evaluation Support Activity (MESA) to provide the USAID DG office with flexible, demand-driven, technical, analytic, advisory, training, monitoring, evaluation, and related support services for performance measurement, planning, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, activity mapping, and performance information management and dissemination activities.
DG MESA is conducting a Political Economy Analysis (PEA) of the Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban areas in Bangladesh to help USAID/Bangladesh better understand the local development policy, planning, and networks in communities impacted by the Rohingya refugee crisis.

Duties and Responsibilities
Social Impact is seeking two Interpreters to work with the PEA team. The team will consist of five members—two local experts, two expatriate researchers, and a GIS specialist—in addition to the two interpreters. The team will also be supported technically and logistically by Social Impact’s Dhaka-based office. The evaluation will last from February-April, with fieldwork taking place between approximately February 23-March 14. The interpreter should be based in the Cox’s Bazar or Bandarban area and must be fluent in local Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar dialects. Approximately 15 days of LOE are available for each interpreter position.
The interpreters will accompany the expatriate evaluation team members during fieldwork and provide both English-Bangla and Bangla-English interpretation in meetings, interviews, and focus group discussions. Some interviews may include interviews in refugee camps.
