Description

 

About the Position: The Transportation Specialist is responsible for the transportation of residents to and from scheduled activities and other duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor, Department Heads and/or Senior Management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Transport residents to regularly scheduled activities and medical appointments as well as other trips as assigned
  • Maintain Montgomery Place vehicles (fill gas tank, take to car wash and obtain vehicle stickers)
  • Keep up to date vehicle records
  • Assist with orientation of new residents to Montgomery Place
  • Assist at front desk as needed
  • Perform various duties as assigned by Director of Security and Transportation or the
  • Transportation Supervisor, including but not limited to: mail pick‐up, posting of notices, copying and distribution of documents, and assisting with various activities as appropriate
  • Report vehicle accidents, damage or problems immediately

Job Requirements/Specifications

Education and Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent work experience
  • 1 year of experience transporting passengers
  • Possess valid driver’s license and meet organization’s driving requirements
  • Ability to work holidays, weekends and evenings

 

Preferred:

  • 2‐3 years of experience transporting passengers
  • Experience working with the elderly

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel, and reach with hand and arms
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; may lift larger amounts of weight occasionally due to lifting residents in wheelchairs into the vehicle
  • Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding)

 

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Entire building, including resident rooms and common areas
  • Spends significant time in vehicle as a driver
  • Exposure to heat, cold, rain and snow
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low
