WHO WE ARE:

The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin (ADRC-CW) is a regional organization serving older and disabled adults in the four-county region of Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, and Wood Counties.  Services provided include information and assistance, options counseling, enrollment into publicly-funded long-term care programs, benefits counseling, elderly nutrition program, caregiver support, healthy living programs, and other services that are integrated to meet the mission of the ADRC-CW.

The mission of the ADRC-CW is to promote choice and independence through personalized education, advocacy, and access to services that prevent, delay, and lessen the impact of aging and disabilities in the lives of adults.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Fill-in, part-time position for Casual Nutrition Driver in WI Rapids. Will work 7:30a.m.-12:30 pm. (Monday-Friday). Employee will work as needed to fill in for sick leave, vacation, etc. Employee in this position loads food & beverages into catering vehicle to transport bulk pans of food from caterer in Marshfield to multiple senior dining location kitchens in Wisconsin Rapids. Assures proper quantities of menu items are received, and that food is held at proper temperatures. Assists team members at dining sites with meal packaging and/or serving. Will occasionally deliver Meals on Wheels to rural Wood County locations.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduation or equivalent and some paid delivery experience preferred.  Experience in food service desirable.  Serving Safe Food Training will be provided.  Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets County standards.

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Maintains daily operations, cleanliness, and standards for food safety for nutrition program services.
  • Drives catering vehicle over designated routes throughout rural Wood County within a fixed time schedule to transport meals.
  • Assists with meal packaging meals as needed; loads bulk pans of food into vehicle; delivers meals to senior dining locations and occasionally to homebound elderly.
  • Follows proper food safety and sanitation procedures; assures catering vehicle compartments are at appropriate temperatures and are clean and sanitized to maintain food safety.
  • Assures bulk food and meal temperatures are maintained according to safe food handling standards.
  • Maintains temperature logs for food and holding equipment.  
  • Documents proper meal service records.
  • Records mileage and hours worked.
  • Performs limited daily vehicle maintenance such as checks of oil, tire pressure, transmission fluids; completes safety checklist.  Washes and cleans catering vehicle.  Alerts supervisor to mechanical problems with catering vehicle, and arranges vehicle maintenance & repair with local automotive shop.
  • Maintains regular communication with other appropriate nutrition and ADRC-CW staff regarding observable changes in health and safety status of Meals on Wheels participants, change in service, or other problems, unusual circumstances, and/or areas needing improvement.
  • Alerts supervisor to changes in service, problems, unusual circumstances, and/or areas needing improvement.  Formulates and makes recommendations to address issues/concerns.  Refers specific concerns about consumers to supervisor or other ADRC-CW staff as needed.
  • Reads menus to determine appropriate serving sizes and appropriate foods for specialized diets; monitors quality and quantity of food.
  • Works closely with the Nutrition Program Manager and other partners as appropriate to recommend new or improved models for service improvements.
  • Communicates with support services team regarding meal and supply orders, and provides backup as needed.
  • Alerts supervisor to changes in service, problems, unusual circumstances, and/or areas needing improvement.  Formulates and makes recommendations to address issues/concerns.  Refers specific concerns about consumers to supervisor or other ADRC-CW staff as needed.
  • Occasionally delivers food and supplies between caterer, meal sites, and office.
  •  Develops solutions to work issues that add value for our customers.
  •  Understands the County's and department's mission, core values, plans, and priorities for the future.
  •  Ability to contribute to a positive work culture that fosters excellent customer service and teamwork.
 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds and transport with use of a cart.

  • Knowledge of programs and services available to elderly and disabled through the Aging & Disability Resource Center.

  • Knowledge of geographic locations within service area--residents, housing, demographic patterns, etc.

  • Knowledge of sanitation inspection procedures and requirements.  Skill in utilizing good hygiene and food safety procedures.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of participants and other areas of employment.

  • Ability to train volunteers and Senior Aides.

  • Skill in planning and organizing work effectively.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.

  • Ability to be flexible and demonstrate a positive attitude about problem solving and implementing operational changes.

  • Ability to relate well and cooperate with co-workers, volunteers, customers, and community partners.  Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with senior citizens, including the frail and chronically ill elderly, family members, and caregivers.

  • Skill in completing records promptly and accurately.

  • Ability to cooperate with people and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing with a variety of groups and individuals.

  • Understands the County's and department's mission, core values, plans, and priorities for the future.

 

COMPENSATION:

Starting salary: $12.93/hour.   No benefits are provided for this casual, part-time position.
