Direct leadership and management of a staff of 15+ Safety and Training personnel.
Support corporate safety mission through daily management of safety processes and personnel.
Develop and implement safety management controls that direct the conduct of all safety-sensitive employees consistent with regulations and best practices relating to motor carrier safety and transportation of hazardous materials.
Direct the safety, compliance, driver training, and accident prevention activities of the company.
Develop programs to reduce accident frequency and cargo claims.
Develop, implement, and monitor audit procedures for driver’s records of duty status.
Coordinate with Operations on disposition of drivers involved in accidents, violations, or other safety or customer service issues requiring corrective action counseling.
Chair committees on accident review and safety standards.
Elevate safety awareness in the company, serving as a technical resource on compliance questions and as a speaker/participant in interdepartmental meetings.
Issue written guidance and updates in the form of internal memoranda, Qualcomm messages, and articles for internal publications.
Travel as required.
Four year college degree and five plus years of safety experience in the transportation industry.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Experience prioritizing matters.
Ability to work under potentially stressful situation.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
The successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
