Position:   Medical Technologist Supervisor - Laboratory

Department Laboratory

Location Provo



  • Must have BS in Clinical Lab Science or Medical Technology

  • Must be registered ASCP or equivalent

  • Must have minimum 2 years laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing

  • Must be familiar with CLIA and OSHA regulations in the lab


  • Assigns, directs and schedules technical staff.

  • Maintains appropriate staffing levels by recruiting, on-boarding, and training new technical staff as needed.

  • Is knowledgeable in laboratory standards and monitors and evaluates the work of technologists.

  • Also works the bench as needed.

  • Is knowledgeable of clinical laboratory procedures and practices and uses knowledge to evaluate department and recommend improvement.

  • Is knowledgeable of laboratory equipment and new testing available.

  • Determines equipment needs and evaluates equipment and new test procedures for purchase or addition to test menu.

  • Recommends purchase of capital equipment.

  • Oversees performance and quality of testing.

  • Plans designs and directs installation of new or improved laboratory techniques and tests.

  • Directs maintenance of equipment.

  • Develops and manages inventory control system.

  • Responsible for ordering lab supplies and equipment.

  • Manages annual standing supply orders.

  • Reviews departmental performance to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies including CLIA. •

  • Works closely with Laboratory Services Manager to promote and maintain efficient, high quality lab services and a professional, safe, and collaborative work environment.
