Qualifications: 

  • 1-3 years of experience as a Holter Scanner or telemetry/monitor technician. •

  • Excellent PC proficiency level •

  • Excellent attention to detail • Positive attitude and team player •

  • Ability to use critical thinking skills •

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, specific to Cardiology and Electrophysiology •

  • Great work ethic and a desire to provide high quality outcomes (reports) to our customers and patients •

  • CRAT/CCT certification (a plus, or in progress) •

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills •

  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills

Description :

  •   Holter Monitor Scanner is responsible for performing electrocardiographic (ECG) tests, including application of various arrhythmia monitors and electrocardiographic stress testing.

  •  Holter Monitor Scanner is responsible for educating patients on all testing procedures, properly positioning patients, electrode application, judging the quality of ECG tracings, attaching various arrhythmia monitor   devices, facilitating stress testing under the supervision of a cardiologist, APP, or clinical exercise physiologist, and analyzing arrhythmia monitor data.

  • Holter Monitor Scanner requires advanced competency in scanning Holter monitor arrhythmia monitors.

  • This position works with patient populations across the age continuum.

  • This position is responsible for helping to develop and implement systems to assure the smooth and efficient flow of both inpatient and outpatient ECG procedures.

  • This position may be assigned to work at any department clinical location.

Job Description: 

  • Analyzes data from cardiac-function monitoring device worn by patient for use in diagnosis of cardiovascular disorders: Places magnetic tape or cassette from Holter monitor worn by patient in scanner and starts scanner that produces audio and visual representation of heart activity. 

  • Adjusts scanner controls that regulate taped sounds associated with heart activity and focus video representation of sounds on scanner screen. 

  • Observes scanner screen to identify irregularities in patient cardiac patterns, utilizing knowledge of regular and irregular cardiac-function patterns, or verifies data provided by computer program that automatically scans, analyzes, identifies, and prints irregular heart patterns. 

  • Prints sections of abnormal heart patterns or full disclosure tape for physician. 

  • Analyzes information in patient diary to identify incidents that correspond to heart pattern irregularities detected on heart monitor. 

  • Records findings on report form and forwards tapes, form, patient diary, and printouts of heart patterns to interpreting physician. 

  • May attach electrodes to patient's chest and connect electrodes to heart monitor, following standard procedure. 

  • May measure distances between peaks and valleys of heart activity patterns, using calipers, to obtain data for further analysis. 

  • May perform other diagnostic procedures, such as electrocardiography and stress testing, to aid in medical evaluation of patient.

Hours: 

  • Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm

Notes

  • Starting position is PT, but will eventually move to FT upon clinic receiving more monitors down the road.
