Location: American Fork

Job Title: Medical Scribe - Orthopedics

Summary:

Begins patients notes prior to the office visit.  Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary technology.  Maintains patient records and other information as requested by the physician.  Records the office visits via electronic templates on behalf of doctors.  Provides courteous and friendly service to all patients and contributes to a positive work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responds promptly, professionally and courteously to patient’s needs.
  • Assists patients to exam room, prepares patient for exam.  Interview’s patients and records pertinent materials in the patient note.
  • Records previous history and present illness to include in the patient note.
  • Manipulates electronic templates to fit the needs of the specific doctor. 
  • Recommends to the physician areas of improvement in effort to increase coding accuracy.
  • Assists the physician in examining the patient and records the exam electronically on behalf of the patients.
  • Completes all office notes and obtains electronic signature from the attending physician.
  • Retrieves previous x-rays, office notes, and exam results.
  • Attends meetings as required.

Skill Set:

  • Understanding of medical terminology preferred.
  • Proficient with computers and electronic medical records systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, prioritization and organization skills are necessary. 
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to work as a team player. 
  • Must be able to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Hours:

Position is part time, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 am - 5 pm.
