As a Senior Engineering Technician, you will support Product Development Engineering projects with advanced technical assistance in the areas of prototyping, troubleshooting, testing, modifying, repairing, and documentation; including management of laboratory space and equipment. 

The individual will plan and conduct small-sized projects within the engineering test support function. Responsibilities include project planning and monitoring, project reviews, implementation, verification and validation, and release to engineering and / or production. 

Under the direction of senior engineering team members, create equipment / process specifications, drawings, and software as required, and ensure that existing documentation is accurate and appropriate to support manufacturing production. Research, recommend, implement, and qualify replacement parts for inadequate / discontinued / obsolete components, equipment, and software. 

In addition to product development support, you may be called on to perform scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance and repair of medical equipment of basic to high complexity. Perform incoming inspections, routine maintenance, safety testing, calibration, and repairs in accordance with departmental standards and manufacturer's operator and technical service manuals.



  • Participate in construction of prototype projects that may include assembly of components, sheet metal, wiring, printed circuit boards and assemblies.
  • Able to read and interpret design schematics and drawings.
  • Assemble, modify, and test new products as needed during development phase of projects.
  • Assist in the ordering of parts and supplies necessary for prototyping and development of medical devices.
  • Assist engineers with regulatory agency testing, including troubleshooting and analyzing of equipment and components.
  • Set up and manage engineering lab, its resources, test spaces, and act as lab leader.
  • Maintain laboratory facility, tools and test equipment in a clean, well-organized and efficient level of operation.
  • Manage prototype parts inventory.
  • Demonstrate ability to properly operate various test measuring diagnostic equipment; such as a digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, DC power supply, electrical safety analyzer, and pressure/vacuum meter/gauge.
  • Perform all job duties in a safe manner and obey all safety policies and procedures.
  • Recognize and report potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions.
  • Ability to maintain and repair a wide variety of complex medical equipment and systems.
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex medical equipment operation and technical service manuals.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance service, calibration and repair of medical equipment in accordance with manufacturer's operator and technical service manuals.

  • Successful completion of a technical school, trade school, or course of training in electricity, electronics, or engineering technology.
  • 7 plus years’ experience in the area of medical devices and systems, hardware, instrumentation, or software development.
  • Knowledge of electrical / mechanical principles.
  • Proficiency at using test instruments such as DMM’s, oscilloscopes, functional generators, and power supplies for testing is must.
  • Demonstration of an electrical and mechanical aptitude to construct working models of prototypes, including PCB, wiring, sheet metal and mechanisms.
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of electrical, digital, analog, power, and FPGA electronics.
  • Must know how to read and follow complex schematics, assembly drawings, and execute test procedures.
  • Must be able to test and troubleshoot down to the component level.
  • Proficient in soldering skills; through hole and surface mount
  • Experience modifying mechanical parts (drilling, cutting, tapping, milling).
  • Experience designing and assemble wiring harnesses.
  • Experience executing test plans, collecting, and reporting data.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite.



  • Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) Certification

  • Working knowledge of IPC-7711A/7721A

  • Experience with schematic capture & PCB design software.

  • Familiarity with Solidworks Design Environment.

  • Familiarity with LabVIEW



  • Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as required

  • Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull

  • Ability to regularly lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
