The Principal Publications Specialist will possess medical writing experience, understanding of scientific research methodologies, analytical skills and technical knowledge of products and processes to create scientifically accurate abstracts/ peer-reviewed articles and Clinical Evidence Reports (CER). As a member of the Scientific Affairs department, the role will interact with cross-functional teams including R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Marketing and other departments at AtriCure.



  • Authors/reviews abstracts and manuscript for submission in scientific meetings/congresses and peer reviewed scientific journals
  • Authors podium presentation and posters for meetings/congresses worldwide.
  • Supports with the development of the publication plans and management of the publication committees
  • Remains current with medical developments, treatment guidelines, and publications on AtriCure and competitor products and uses internal and external insights to identify emerging trends to refine publication strategies
  • Performs literature review and summarizes the results in support of regulatory submissions, risk management and marketing activities.
  • Either writes or overseas timely completion of the CERs (Clinical Evaluation Reports) as per regulatory requirements in different geographies.
  • Supports with the responses to the FDA, EU Competent Authorities and regulatory agencies in various geographies.
  • May serve as a Scientific Affairs representative in Product Development meetings, as needed.
  • May coordinate or write grant submission, as needed
  • Ensures that accurate, high-quality documents are prepared on schedule.

  • Master of Science with 5+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor of Science with 8+ years of relevant experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in scientific/medical writing, preferably with cardiac medical devices
  • Experience with analyzing and summarizing scientific data
  • Ability to multitasks, prioritizes and meet deadlines
  • Collaborative approach in working with the cross functional teams
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%



  • PhD and/or MD

  • Experience in the domain of Cardiac Surgery / Electrophysiology

  • Computer Skills (EndNote, Microsoft Word and Excel)

  • Ability to write independently with minimal input



  • Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as required

  • Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
