AtriCure, Inc. is a medical device company and a leader in developing, manufacturing and selling innovative cardiac surgical ablation systems designed to create precise lesions in cardiac tissue for the treatment of atrial fibrillation, or Afib, and systems for the exclusion of the left atrial appendage. Cardiothoracic surgeons are adopting AtriCure’s ablation products for the treatment of Afib during concomitant open-heart surgical procedures and sole-therapy minimally invasive procedures. Afib affects more than 33 million people worldwide and predisposes them to a five-fold increased risk of stroke. The FDA has not cleared or approved certain AtriCure products for the treatment of Afib or a reduction in the risk of stroke.

Position Summary:

The Internal communications manager will develop and execute strategies to ensure employees are kept informed, engaged, and motivated. The manager will also produce content to consistently communicate the organization's goals with the company through several channels, such as intranet, emails, social media and newsletters. The manager will also lead the internal communications committee to help identify any issues and ensure our patient first culture is remaining a priority. They will also work closely with HR with on-boarding of new employees, employee engagement and recognition activities and community development outreach and philanthropic opportunities.


  • Establish an internal communications strategy

  • Be a visible and energetic representative of the company

  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as intranet, newsletter, or emails

  • Create a communications calendar and ensure communication boards are up to date

  • Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees

  • Evaluate different channels to communicate and develop the internal brand

  • Advise of developments throughout the organization, through regular written communication

  • Project and content owner of the intranet

  • Maintain the building branding in both Minneapolis and Mason locations

  • Work closely with HR on employee communication and engagement initiatives

  • Organize and develop the agenda content for All Employee Meetings (AEMs)

  • Work with internal communications team to create consistency across /within departments

  • Draft messages or scripts from senior executives for presentations/communications to employees

  • Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization

  • Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages

  • Work with senior management on the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organizational perception and reputation


  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, journalism, or

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of Internal Marketing or Internal Communication experience in health care industry

  • Strong knowledge of brand, digital, and PR, as well as experience hiring and directing vendor partners

  • Ability to work with other departments on projects towards a common goal

  • Experience developing and deploying content in a highly regulated environment

  • Strong attention to detail as well as business copywriting standards

  • Strong writer and editor


  • Experience in Internal Communications

  • Ability to compose written content for employee facing communications

  • Ability to relay organization’s goals and values to employees

  • Ability to source stories from employees

  • Ability to work with team members remotely and across locations
