Associated Recreation Council, the non-profit partner with Seattle Parks & Recreation, is recruiting for enthusiastic people who will help us deliver fun and creative summer day camp programs for children ages 5-12.


Our Lead Summer Day Camp Counselor work in the school-age child care programs, which provide a fun, creative, safe, and welcoming environment for children to learn, play, and grow.


This position is for the Miller Community Center.

Summer Day Camp Schedule:

  • June 27 – September 1, 2017
  • Monday – Friday 35-40 hours per week
  • Available shifts is 9:00am - 5:00pm  or 10:00am - 6:00pm (subject to change based on business need)
  • Mandatory pre-camp training will be offered in June

Our Lead Counselor:

  • Develop and lead programs and activities such as: arts and crafts, organized games, cultural activities, drama, music, story hour, sports, field trips, and other special projects and events
  • Work with other staff to ensure the care and safety of participants at all times
  • Must be willing to complete training for certification in First Aid/CPR, Food Handlers Permit, HIV/AIDS blood-borne pathogens education


  • Eighteen years of age or older
  • High School diploma/GED or transcripts of secondary education
  • Experience with working with 5-12 year olds and with large groups on field trips
  • Experience with leading activities to children and supervisorial experience preferred
  • Clear Tuberculosis results within the past year
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and Food Handlers permit a plus
  • Ability to commit to a full summer is strongly preferred  
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the US and valid government issued ID
  • Must sign up for direct deposit with either checking or savings account or Payroll Paycard
