The Sales Development Representative is the key interface between field marketing and sales teams (direct and indirect) to ensure that our marketing activities help the sales team to sell at scale. Individuals in the position of Sales Development Representative are responsible for generating qualified sales leads through inbound lead qualification or outbound focused and targeted approaches to new business prospects.
Performs Sales Development activities within a specific geographical area via phone or other contact methods to meet or exceed lead generation objectives.
o May be tied to specific sales rep or field sales team.
o Researches and plans intentional approaches to target prospects, across ANSYS’s whole product and industry portfolio.
o Uses a variety of methods to establish contact with the prospect.
o Responds to and qualifies incoming web, call-in, and e-mail leads.
o Generates sales opportunities via outbound cold calling and marketing events.
o Support and attend marketing events, such as seminars, workshops and exhibitions.
o Provides guidance to less experienced Inside Marketing representatives as needed.
Lead qualification: 40%
The main responsibilities of the Sales Development Representative (SDR) will be responding to and qualifying incoming web, call-in, and e-mail leads. They will also generate sales opportunities via outbound calling and contacting by email and via LinkedIn. Driving attendance to marketing events will also be a core activity. An important part of the role is to maintain accurate records in ANSYS’s CRM system.
Strategic Account Based Marketing or Channel Support: 30%
Channel: The Sales Development Representative will have an important role in supporting our growing Channel business supporting joint marketing plans to driver business growth.
Strategic Account Based marketing: The Sales Development Representative will have an important role in supporting our strategic accounts through Account Based Marketing activities leveraging Content Engagement, other marketing automation tools and ad hoc tailor-made activities upon identified business goals. They will also be a trusted partner with our direct sales team participating in setting up the account plan from a marketing perspective.
White space analysis: 30%
Additionally, the Sales Development Representative will assist management in devising sales development plans and strategies in searching for untapped business opportunities (per industry verticals accounts or product lines).
Individuals at this level are likely to have worked in a similar lead generation and qualification role for at least 5 years and within the engineering software industry. An engineering, technical or scientific degree is preferable however it is important that your chosen career path is sales and marketing focused.
• Good knowledge of company's products and services and pricing practices.
• Effective tele-marketing skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and telephone skills.
• Technical aptitude and/or experience in an industrial/technical environment.
• Excellent record of customer service and customer satisfaction.
• Team player and able to coach Inside Marketing Representatives effectively should this be required in the future.
General Office Environment.
• Should be able to work on the phone and computer for an extended period of time.
• Able to travel occasionally, to include international travel e.g. annual sales kick off meeting.
• Must be highly competent and fluent communicating written and spoken English
