We are looking for a motivated, creative and passionate Senior Designer experienced in executing visually compelling and technically clear solutions for projects. The right candidate will be able to juggle multiple priorities and projects, working with teams from across our global organization to deliver beautiful and impactful work in various mediums ranging from print to digital.

The candidate is happy to work on a range of projects, from printed technical reports to advocacy websites to Twitter memes, always bringing attention to detail, curiosity and passion to projects large and small.  Reporting to the Creative Director, the Senior Designer will collaborate with health professionals and other communications specialists – in public relations, copywriting and digital – from ideation through execution. Across our projects we look for excellence in typography, an editorial eye for content and the ability to pull inspiration from the information at hand as well as outside referents.


Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Creative Director to help establish, maintain, and evolve our brand guidelines visual across multiple country offices.
  • Work closely with program teams to develop, design and package research, training materials and working papers for government and partners. This includes but is not limited to designing factsheets, presentations, workshops and designing websites/pages to showcase their work.
  • Manage and maintain program sub-brands as well as provide guidance and thinking to scale the brand onto other mediums.
  • Support the work of international offices, which includes implementing communication, template and additional branding materials in print and digital into other languages.
  • Oversee and direct US-based and internationally embedded freelance designers, interns, agencies, and/or partners on design projects that require high level creative and design thinking.
  • Participate or lead brainstorming session with workshops, exercises or sprints
  • Ensure timely execution of project objectives and manage time effectively
  • Participate in workflow improvements and mentoring interns or staff in good design practices
  • Ensure execution of design projects across all programs are thoroughly reviewed for quality control

Ideal Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher in a relevant field (e.g. Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Design for Social Impact/Social Innovation or similar)
  • 6+ years of professional experience in visual communication design, branding, publication design, information design
  • Strong visual design in editorial, publications, presentations, branding and information design in print and digital
  • Strong knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience in creating and/or managing brands which have scaled up globally.
  • Ability to design effectively using constrained mediums such as Powerpoint or Word
  • Proven capability of working on a project from the concept to the final design package.
  • An ability to communicate complex, abstract concepts using both visual, verbal and written language.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small team and self-motivated to achieve better and stronger design solutions
