Our in-house legal team is seeking a Paralegal for our headquarters in Kansas City (Lenexa, KS) Responsibilities include maintaining documents database, renewing and maintaining licenses, providing support related to litigation including  answering interrogatories and preparing discovery, and initiating patent and trademark searches.

Essential Functions:

  • Renewing and maintaining company licensing with various state agencies.
  • Maintains database by organizing document control; designing retrieval systems; summarizing, coding, and storing documents with new leases, contracts and litigation matters; updating system including the administrator activities of the database and generating reports, creating notices and ticklers.
  • Drafting, filing and managing various business entity documents for corporations, LLCs and partnerships with State agencies including filing organizational annual reports.
  • Assists with contract review by redlining contracts, creating comparison matrices, maintain binders of larger agreements and indices, draft correspondence and other documents.
  • Assists with coordination and review of medical device incident reports.
  • Handles work of diverse scope and complexity supporting team of 4 legal and compliance personnel
  • Uses multiple resources, quantitative, and qualitative research methodologies to capture and interpret information.

Required Qualifications

  • Paralegal Certification
  • Proficient working in databases, generating reporting and using virtual data rooms to upload and organize documents.
  • Experience writing professional memos, creating spreadsheets, preparing correspondence, and taking notes.
  • Makes effective use of database, spreadsheet, and word-processing software to prepare statistical and written reports for management.
  • Competently analyzes and prioritizes information to make appropriate recommendations.
  • Administrative experience in a legal environment.
  • Familiarity with issues of compliance for state and federal regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Knowledge of conducting patent and trademark searches including knock out searches.
  • Experience working in programs such as Legal Tracker (Serengeti), Westlaw, Dropbox, ETQ Reliance, and Zoom.
  • Experience reviewing law firm bills.
  • Notary
