Centauri has a Senior Security Specialist opportunity in Reston, VA. The Senior Security Specialist responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:

Description/Responsibilities:

  • Providing personnel security support to both customer and embedded SETA.
  • Processing Special Access Program (SAP) nominations IAW DoDM5205.07 Volume 2 and customer specific policies.
  • Uploading documents into the defined system of record and updates tracking mechanism.
  • Ensuring annual requirements for continued access and annual training are completed by briefed personnel. Conduct Security Refresher Briefings upon request.
  • Communicating potentially controversial matters to GPSO or Project’s PSO.
  • Answering questions regarding personnel clearances, reporting requirements, visit coordination, SCI and SAP nomination status.  May also be responsible for activating badges and conducting access audits.
  • Assisting Directorate Security Office with communication, INDOC and polygraph scheduling when tasked to do so by COR, Chiefs or Security Chief.
  • Scheduling briefings and debriefings for additional accesses with PSO and SSO.
  • Maintaining relationships with FSO/CPSO and SSO.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ten (10) years of experience in the personnel security or related field.
  • Proficient in using databases/lookup tools and MS Office applications.
  • Completion of the CDSE: Introduction to Personnel Security and Introduction to SAP
  • Completion of prerequisites for access to JPAS
  • Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within 12 months of hire
  • Bachelor's degree in any field of study, US Government experience or Military service.
  • Experience conducting database checks and translating the data into prioritized action items.
  • Ability to multitask and work priorities in parallel.
  • Experience performing routine office administrative support functions such as scanning and uploading documents, validating clearances and sending communication in a timely manner.
  • Experience with various DoD security IT systems for personnel security (JPAS, Scattered Castles and Jade).
  • Be a team-oriented individual with the ability to handle multiple, high priority projects with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on complex personnel security problems and communicate potential solutions that meet policy and project timelines.
  • Be a motivated self-starter and meet deadlines independently with little or no supervision.
  • Understand role in within the security team and be able to respond appropriately to constructive criticism, changing priorities and direction from multiple layers of management.
  • Communicates messages to customers and peers in succinct and respectful manner.

Security Clearance Requirements: Active TS with SCI and CI Poly, must be within 5 years
