The Fitness & Recreation Coordinator is responsible for the overall direction and development of fitness and recreation operations at one of our properties in South-Central Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will be responsible for development, coordination, and implementation of fitness and recreation activities, health and wellness initiatives, fitness training/classes, sports, tournaments, social events, and cultural programs.  This position will ensure that our guests and employees have the best experience possible while staying at our facilities.
Enjoy working in Jansen in a large lodge setting and on a rotation that consists of 14 days on and 14 days off, with 12 hour work days. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assess the recreational requirements of the facility and prepares an effective recreation plan.
  • Promote and implements a variety of leisure and recreational activities such as fitness training, tournaments, games, sports, social events, and cultural inclusion programs.
  • Supervise and coordinates all recreational operations and ensures all programs are run smoothly.
  • Ensure all recreational facilities are clean, safe, and well maintained.
  • Schedule routine maintenance and repairs of recreation equipment and facilities.
  • Create program schedules/newsletters to keep guests informed about the different activities available.
  • Develop initiatives to increase participation and involvement of guests.
  • Continuously identify and implement new programs to meet the needs of guests and employees.
  • Coordinate the use of recreation facilities including the gymnasium, weight room, etc., where required and as applicable.
  • This position is safety sensitive, and as such will require pre-employment alcohol, drug and fitness to work testing as a condition of employment.
  • A minimum of 5 years of fitness and recreation related experience, 3 of which in a progressive managerial role.
  • Education in Kinesiology, Recreation, or other related field is required; CEP preferred
  • Proficient with strength training, assessment, nutrition, and related fitness modalities
  • Possess an evidence-based mindset 
  • Experience in the remote camp and/or resource industry is an asset.
  • Superior leadership skills with focus on people management and problem solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with others.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible regarding work schedule
  • WHMIS and First Aid certifications are mandatory.
