POSITION:  Chair/Director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT)

DEPARTMENT: Physical Therapy - College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences

STATUS:  Full Time (12-Month appointment tenure track, associate or full professor)


Position Summary:

Campbell University invites applications for Chair/Director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT) housed in the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. The Chair/Director is responsible for maintaining accreditation and required reporting to the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), recruiting and developing faculty, overseeing curricular development and clinical rotations, all in collaboration with departmental faculty and college administration. The Chair/Director will have oversight of departmental budget, scheduling of classes and departmental activities, maintaining communication, and interdepartmental collaborations. The Chair/Director will support the department through didactic instruction where reasonable.

Requirements | Qualifications

  • The Chair/Director must hold an earned academic doctoral degree as defined by CAPTE (i.e., PhD, EdD, ScD).
  • Candidates must hold current licensure as a physical therapist in North Carolina or be eligible for licensure and is expected to have a record appropriate for the rank of tenure track, associate or full professor.
  • The Chair/Director must have a minimum of six years of full-time higher education experience, with a minimum of three years of full-time experience in a physical therapist education program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail are essential
  • Knowledge of Microsoft word, outlook, excel, powerpoint and the internet
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high level university officials and the public.
  • Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
  • Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • Detail oriented and willing to work in a changing environment.
  • This position requires integrity, honesty and accuracy and the ability to work within the Christian Mission of Campbell University.
