Therefore we are currently looking to fill the position of Business Analyst to join us in developing NSPs Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution.

Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is a secure communication network system that involves installation of advanced new technology and new meters. The meters used in AMI systems are commonly referred to as “smart meters” as they allow for remote two-way communication capability which enables a wide variety of benefits including operational efficiencies that translate into customer savings; modernization of NS Power’s grid to become more responsive and improve reliability; and it provides customers with access to tools to better manage their electricity use and stay on budget.

As a member of the AMI Project team, you will join a dynamic group of responsive professionals leading cross-divisional and enterprise-wide business transformation during this multi-year project.

Accountabilities: 

This key function is within the Business Integration stream of the AMI Project in a fast paced, demanding environment.  As a key member of the NSPI AMI Project team, you will have a deep understanding of business analysis organization wide and an understanding of project management, system development lifecycle and business analysis methodology. In addition to leading and collaborating on the project, you will specifically have the following accountabilities:

  • Develop strong understanding of the utilities meter-to-cash operations, meter data management, supply chain, outage management and billing operations to enable sound business analysis.
  • Leadership role in management of utilities operational business requirements throughout the entire requirement lifecycle (elicitation, analysis, specification and validation) with respect to functions supported via the AMI system, or its integrated systems.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops and conducts stakeholder interviews to elicit, document and validate business requirements, processes and procedures.
  • Utilize standard business analysis tools and techniques (process flow charts, swim lane diagrams, storyboarding, SWOT analysis, benchmarking, etc.) as appropriate.
  • Document functional and non-functional system requirements in support of documented business processes
  • Provide support and transition assistance to downstream work streams including Technical Design, Testing, Change Management, and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Conduct working sessions to validate processes, identify gaps, and document remediation actions into SOPs. Perform deep-dive on changes to job procedures resulting from AMI with focused areas of the business (e.g., Contact Center, Billing, etc.)
  • Document standard operating procedures for each the use cases identified, followed by validation sessions to socialize and confirm the procedures
  • Work with utilities staff to identify, analyze, recommend and implement business process optimization opportunities leveraging the AMI Technology.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training and job aids for end users.
  • Participate in the development of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) test scenarios and test scripts to ensure extensive testing of critical or complex business requirements
  • Support the investigation and resolution of technical incidents or problems.
  • Support the project teams (and project managers) in testing and ensuring that the process they develop is effective and sustainable.

You will participate in: organizing meetings, scheduling resources, and managing expectations of system owners. You must be comfortable with presenting results to sponsors and stakeholders.

Overall, the AMI Business Analyst works with minimum of supervision to provide excellence in all aspects of the project role. Skills, Capabilities and Experience:

A post-secondary degree (Business Administration, Computer Science, Library Science, Engineering, Mathematics), with 5-10 years’ experience in utilization and understanding of standard business analysis processes and methodologies , is required for this position. A professional Business Analyst Certification is preferred. As the successful candidate, you will be a leader of people with a demonstrated ability to create and promote a climate of pride, commitment and participation among the Technology team. You will also demonstrate the following:

  • Sufficient experience to demonstrate the ability to support business units.
  • Knowledge of Office automation software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and collaboration software to write business cases and/or Opportunity Assessment, create reports and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to problem solve, make decisions and/or recommendations. The analytical skill to convert business requirements into business cases/opportunity assessments.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and compress data and information from multiple sources, resolve conflicts and differentiate between actual and required user needs
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to clients including negotiation and influencing
  • Ability to proactively keep abreast of new emerging technologies, interview, facilitate working groups, and develop strong relationships
  • Knowledge and experience with Organizational Change Management
  • Experience in user training and implementation of the IT solutions

The successful candidate must be willing to complete a Criminal Background Check.

Salary: Commensurable with qualifications and experience.
