Therefore, we are currently looking to fill the position of Senior Business Systems Analyst to join us in evolving NSPs Work and Asset Management (WAM) solution.

The Work and Asset Management (WAM) solution will transform the way NS Power delivers services to its customers. The project will deliver new capabilities and tools for planning and scheduling work, new mobile tools for field technicians, and upgraded systems and processes to support the delivery of services to customers.    

As a member of the WAM Project team, you will join a dynamic group of responsive professionals leading cross-divisional and enterprise-wide business transformation during this multi-year project and the continuous improvement program that follows.

 

Accountabilities: 

  • Develop strong understanding of the utilities field operations to enable sound business analysis.
  • Leadership role in management of utilities business requirements throughout the entire requirement lifecycle (elicitation, analysis, specification and validation) with respect to functions supported via the WAM systems, or their integrated systems.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops and conducts stakeholder interviews to elicit, document and validate business requirements, processes and procedures.
  • Utilize standard business analysis tools and techniques (process flow charts, swim lane diagrams, storyboarding, SWOT analysis, benchmarking, etc.) as appropriate.
  • Work closely with the utility’s end-users, subject matter experts and technical staff to ensure effective translation of business requirements into system configuration and/or system design specifications. 
  • Perform data analysis to identify business opportunity, understand business impact, or support troubleshooting efforts
  • Work with utilities staff to identify, analyze, recommend and implement business process optimization opportunities leveraging the WAM technology.
  • Conduct business impact analysis of changes to WAM and related processes.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training and job aids for end users.
  • Participate in the development of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) test scenarios and test scripts to ensure extensive testing of critical or complex business requirements in the WAM suite.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of technical incidents or problems.
  • Support the project teams (and project managers) in testing and ensuring that the process they develop is effective and sustainable.

 

With your project management experience, you will work closely with and assist the Leadership Team in: writing project statements, consulting with sponsors and stakeholders, the creation of communication plans, and change management plans. You will participate in: organizing meetings, scheduling resources, and managing expectations of system owners. You must be comfortable with presenting results to sponsors and stakeholders.

Overall, the Senior Business Systems Analyst works with minimum of supervision to provide excellence in all aspects of the project role. You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.

 

Skills, Capabilities and Experience:

A post-secondary degree (Computer Science, Library Science, Engineering, Mathematics), with 5-10 years’ experience in utilization and understanding of standard business analysis processes and methodologies, is required for this position. A professional Business Analyst Certification is preferred. As the successful candidate, you will be a leader of people with a demonstrated ability to create and promote a climate of pride, commitment and participation among your peers. You will also demonstrate the following:

  • Sufficient experience to demonstrate the ability to support business units.
  • Knowledge of Office automation software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and collaboration software to write business cases and/or Opportunity Assessment, create reports and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to problem solve, make decisions and/or recommendations. The analytical skill to convert business requirements into business cases/opportunity assessments.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and compress data and information from multiple sources, resolve conflicts and differentiate between actual and required user needs
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to clients including negotiation and influencing
  • Ability to proactively keep abreast of new emerging technologies, interview, facilitate working groups, and develop strong relationships
  • Knowledge and experience with Organizational Change Management
  • Experience in user training and implementation of the IT solutions

Requires excellent interpersonal skills, consensus building skills, team building skills and the ability to follow through and complete projects.

The successful candidate must be willing to complete a Criminal Background Check.

 

Reports To: Business Lead – Work Management 

Salary: Commensurable with qualifications and experience.
