We are currently looking to fill the position of Financial Business Analyst.

Accountabilities:

As a member of the Finance team supporting a number of operational workgroups, the Financial Business Analyst will be responsible for monitoring the financial performance of the group and for providing reliable and timely information and analysis.  This includes:

  • Working with business leaders to prepare budgets and quarterly forecasts;
  • Providing accounting for the monthly, quarterly and yearly closes;
  • Providing detailed variance analyses;
  • Conducting monthly reconciliations;
  • Working with external stakeholders to represent Nova Scotia Power and ensure an effective relationship;
  • Assisting internal clients to meet financial goals and identify cost savings initiatives;
  • Performing project and operational tasks with excellent overall quality, while being able to prioritize work to meet deadlines.

 

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.

Skills, Capabilities and Experience:  

As the ideal candidate, you have a business degree and a minimum of two years’ experience in a related role. A CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA program would be considered an asset.

You have excellent computer skills using the Microsoft suite of programs, particularly Microsoft Excel, and are comfortable using accounting software.  A working knowledge of Oracle Financial System, PowerPlan and PeopleSoft or equivalent applications would be considered an asset.

You possess excellent communication skills and have demonstrated success in effectively presenting and communicating financial ideas and concepts to audiences at a variety of levels.  You have strong organizational skills, are detail-oriented, and are comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.  You can work well both independently and as a member of a team.

The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel and complete a Criminal Background Check.
