Therefore we are currently looking to fill the position of Configuration Analyst to join us in developing NSPs Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution.

Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is a secure communication network system that involves installation of advanced new technology and new meters. The meters used in AMI systems are commonly referred to as “smart meters” as they allow for remote two-way communication capability which enables a wide variety of benefits including operational efficiencies that translate into customer savings; modernization of NS Power’s grid to become more responsive and improve reliability; and it provides customers with access to tools to better manage their electricity use and stay on budget.

As a member of the AMI Project team, you will join a dynamic group of responsive professionals leading cross-divisional and enterprise-wide business transformation during this multi-year project.

Accountabilities:   

In the role of Configuration Analyst, you will be primarily responsible for the configuration management plan, configuration accounting and configuration auditing of infrastructure, application and software components across integrated environments and between environment levels.  You will act as a gatekeeper to all environments, ensuring that proper IT change management processes and release procedures are defined and followed.  This will include code migration and version control, creating branching models of configuration items to support project releases and upgrades, keeping environments current (patches and upgrades), coordinating environment integration with non-project applications and environments, facilitating cross-team planning to identify release dependencies, coordinating work and resolving conflicts. 

You will utilize corporate tools and practices and leverage your experience and expertise in industry tools and best practices to provide direction and address project specific requirements. 

You will collaborate with the AMI project team, IT Operations and vendor partners to manage all project environments and contribute to operational planning and knowledge transfer to enable the successful transition to production operations.  You will work closely with the Integration, Implementation, Quality Assurance and Data Leads to ensure that the configuration management plans and practices are in place to support the requirements of these key project areas.

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

Skills, Capabilities and Experience:

The successful candidate will have three to five years’ experience in Implementation and Configuration Management roles, preferably on IT / Technology intensive projects.  

  • Preference will be given to those candidates with an undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering or Management.
  • Experience managing IT environments and supporting technology implementation is critical.
  • Working knowledge of standard Software Development Lifecycle methodologies is required.
  • Experience with code control and continuous integration / code deployment tools such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, GIT or equivalent is required.Experience with other Dev Ops tools an asset.
  • Experience in scripting (Shell, Power Shell and Batch) is an asset
  • Experience with Oracle Linux 7.5, Oracle DB 12c, Windows Server 2012 R2, SQL Server 2016 EE, SNI, HSM, Microsoft Service Fabric, AS/400, and DB2/400 an asset.
  • The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills and be a good communicator. They require a strong technical knowledge and ability to effectively discuss technical requirements with technical experts, and also have the ability discuss requirements and issues at a more general level when dealing with other less technical project and business resources.
  • The successful candidate is able to clearly define and communicate a process framework and support others in executing the process.
  • The successful candidate is well versed in project management practices, systems delivery methodologies, tools, techniques and trends. They are effective in planning work and working with others to successfully execute the plan.
  • Experience with smart meter and or smart grid implementations is an asset.
  • Experience configuring environments to support hardware testing an asset.
  • Knowledge of NSP business processes and/or utility practices are an asset.
  • Working knowledge/certification in ITIL would be considered an asset.
