Accountabilities: As the successful candidate you will ensure the buildings and their services meet the needs of the people that work in them. You will be accountable for services such as cleaning, security services, HVAC, electrical, snow removal, landscaping and general contracting. The successful candidate will also manage the central mail and print service contract that supports all departments in the organization.
You will prepare documentation for RFPs for contracted work and supervise and coordinate with those contractors. You will be responsible for allocating and managing space between buildings and oversee building projects, renovations and refurbishments.
You will ensure that Nova Scotia Power’s safe work practices are adhered to at all times and ensure that government regulations, environment and health and safety standards are met.
As the Manager of the Facilities department, you will be required to manager, prepare and track operating and Capital budgets, ensure all Capital work is within your budget and completed on schedule.
Skills, Capabilities and Experience: As the ideal candidate, you will possess a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or have a minimum of 10 years equivalent work experience. You must have demonstrated time management, organizational, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
Previous experience with plumbing, fire protection, HVAC, electrical systems, landscaping and CMMS is required. You have experience supervising a team and maintenance personnel and have worked with vendors and contractors. You must have the ability to multitask and oversee concurrent projects and have experience with negotiating contracts for services including security, parking, cleaning and landscaping.
