Therefore we are currently looking to fill the position of Senior Project Manager for our pending Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Project.
Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is a secure communication network system that involves installation of advanced new technology and new meters. The meters used in AMI systems are commonly referred to as “smart meters” as they allow for remote two-way communication capability which enables a wide variety of benefits including operational efficiencies that translate into customer savings; modernization of NS Power’s grid to become more responsive and improve reliability; and it provides customers with access to tools to better manage their electricity use and stay on budget.
As a member of the AMI Project Delivery team, you will join a dynamic group of responsive Project Management professionals leading Enterprise IT enabled projects. The Senior Project Manager is an integral member of the AMI project team and provides (technical) project leadership, supports the strategic direction and provides oversight for the activities related to the implementation of our AMI Solution. If you excel in the areas of technical leadership, collaboration, problem solving, and you have the right experience such as experience in deployment of Enterprise class solutions, you are a strong candidate for this position.
In the role of Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the AMI project using Emera’s Solution Development Life Cycle (SDLC) framework and methodology (based on PMI’s PMBOK). You will provide overall project management including accountably for all project control document deliverables, and are responsible for ensuring successful delivery of quality project deliverables on an approved budget and timeline.
Specific accountabilities include (but not limited to):
You will be responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
Skills, Capabilities and Experience: The successful candidate must have at least ten (10) years’ experience in a Project Manager role, preferably on IT enabled intensive projects with budgets > $50M. Preference will be given to those candidates with an undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management, or Accounting. PMP certification or comparable PM certification (or demonstrated intent), is required. You are well versed in project management practices, systems delivery methodologies, tools, techniques and trends.
You possess solid communication and interpersonal skills, conflict management skills, and negotiation skills. You have the ability to work under self-direction toward pre-determined long-term goals, and use considerable latitude in determining objectives of the assignment. The successful candidate will understand that diplomacy, effective listening and the ability to influence or persuade are essential for effective management of projects. Knowledge of NSPI business processes and utility practices are an asset.
The successful Senior Project Manager will have the demonstrated capabilities above, but being a comfortable leader and contributor will be just as important. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, high personal standards and be a good communicator. In addition, they should be at home in a technical environment where success is based on establishing face-to-face working relationships with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
Reports To: Director, Customer Solutions.
Salary: Commensurable with qualifications and experience.
