Workplace Relations Senior Lawyer

  • Senior Lawyer with 6+ years’ experience

  • Thriving law firm with 75 staff

  • Excellent mentoring and opportunities for quick career progression

  • No time recording – value pricing

  • Modern premises in Hawthorn

Moores is a values-driven law firm that is committed to making a difference for our clients, our people and the communities in which we operate.

We are looking for a talented senior lawyer or special counsel who wants to propel their career as part of our high-performing, friendly and collegiate team.

You will be mentored by accredited specialists and award winning Practice Leaders, who invest in your growth and development.

Moores is highly regarded for its innovative, proactive and pragmatic approach to dispute resolution and workplace relations issues. Recent awards indicate that our clients love partnering with us too.

About the role

Working closely with our highly regarded Practice Leader, Skye Rose, you will provide advice and representation to clients on a complex range of workplace relations, anti-discrimination and child safety matters. Our team provides representation in all courts, commissions and tribunals.

There is a high degree of autonomy in the role, and you will work closely with our clients in the education, housing, disability, health and NFP sectors.

With a busy team of lawyers, there is no shortage of quality work on offer, but the opportunity to develop your practice is something that Skye is keen to support. There is ample opportunity to build a client base from within the existing client contacts, but a candidate with a track record of attracting and retaining clients will be highly regarded.

About you

You will have approximately 6+ years’ experience as a workplace relations lawyer, and looking for career progression.

As a key member of our team, you will:

  • Be a team player.

  • Invest time in mentoring and supervising junior members in the team.

  • Be conscientious and collaborative.

  • Have excellent drafting and communication skills.

  • Have strong attention to detail.

  • Have an interest in building your practice and developing strong client relationships.

About us

Moores is not a traditional law firm and our working environment will be attractive to people looking for a break from the traditional law firm set-up.

We are unique because:

  • We actually innovate – we were the first law firm to ditch time sheets in favour of value pricing. We price value, not time.

  • Our staff love working here – in 2018 Moores ranked in the top 5% of Australian organisations surveyed by InSync in relation to employee engagement.

  • We are flexible – about three quarters of our staff and two thirds of our practice leaders work flexibly or part time.

  • We are proudly inclusive, diverse and committed to gender equality – by March 2020, 50 percent of our practice leaders will be female. There is no gender pay gap at Moores.

  • We pride ourselves on being professional, but we don’t wear suits unless we have to.

  • We work collaboratively in an open-plan.

  • We value work-life balance, so we focus on working smarter.

  • We have a strong commitment to pro bono and social impact – we delivered $300,000 in pro bono legal support to the NFP sector in 2019 alone.

  • We focus on working with purpose aligned clients to deliver great outcomes that benefit the community.

Other benefits of joining our team include:

  • Access to interesting, challenging and varied work.
  • Supportive Practice Leaders who are committed to your professional development.
  • Tailored learning and development initiatives.
  • A supportive and enthusiastic team, which thrives on working collaboratively with clients to find solutions to complex problems.
  • Leave purchase options, a wellbeing program and community based activities.
