Position Objective:

Responsible for managing field engineering functions for a large project or a specific portion of a major project. Directs several professional and other groups engaged in interrelated field engineering responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions

  • Directly supervise the teams. Carry supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; providing feedback; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Ensure Project is constructed in accordance with the design, budget and schedule, and company/project policies.

  • Reviews, analyzes and resolves major and complex field construction problems/ discrepancies.

  • Manage project plans, schedules, and estimates and cost controls for a very large and complex projects.

  • Reviews and evaluates technical work.

  • Provides mentoring and coaching to other technical employees.

  • Preforms in-depth analysis and interpretation and recommendations of technical solutions.

  • Reviews, provides analysis and resolves complex field construction problems and discrepancies.

  • Provides interpretation of plans, detail sheets. And specifications for contractors or craft supervision.

  • Engage the client on contractual matters related to work to be completed and financial considerations.

  • Perform take-offs, develop schedules and crew loadings, and solicit third party pricings to develop construction estimates.

  • Engage with, or assist clients in engaging with, stakeholders to validate technical feasibility of construction commitments.

  • Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree or technical diploma (with additional experience) in relevant discipline with 6+ years’ construction and project management. Experience in major construction projects.

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office suite

  • Valid Driver’s License, required to operate a vehicle on a public roadway

  • Ability to work away from home for extended periods in various projects sites across Canada

Desired Qualifications:

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer, or the ability to become registered

  • Field experience during pipeline construction

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. The noise level is usually quiet.

  • Frequent travel, which may include extended duration, is required. Extended meaning the travel may account for up to 100% of the time and/or limit the ability to return home during off time. During travel, employee may be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions and moving vehicles and equipment. The noise level may be moderate to loud.
