Position Objective:

The role of the Engineering in Training is to be a technical asset to the construction team. Working out of the office a Project Engineer’s primary task is to review and analyze technical and regulatory information provided by the client, and work with field crews to determine how best to interpret and act on that information given the actual conditions found during construction. The EIT will also be involved with the team in the preparing the bid for the project.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The ability to interpret Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and perform takeoffs.

  • Review and interpretation of technical standards to determine impact to project work

  • Development of project drawings and mapping

  • Development of project specific procedures, with guidance from senior construction personnel

  • Ensuring all written form of writing or drafting technical communication is clear and easy to understand.

  • Interfacing with subcontractors and vendors for pricing a schedule development

  • Drafting using AutoCAD, Civil3D and/or Microstation

  • The ability to use common scheduling software like Primavera P6 is considered an asset.

  • Writing Project Execution Plans after discussions with the bid team.You will be work with existing templates, but we will be looking for a fresh and creative take on the plans.

  • Conduct site visits as required, construction field experience is considered an asset

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Civil, Mechanical, or other Engineering Degree from an accredited institution.

  • Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver’s license (non-graduated) with clean driver abstract

  • Requires excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, including strong writing, editing and proofreading abilities

  • Proficient with some form of drafting software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microstation, etc)

  • Working familiarity with GIS softwarea plus (ArcGIS, Google Earth, Ozi Explorer, etc)

  • Familiarity with Structural Analysis Software e.g. SAP2000 or other

  • Travel required. Position requires extended travel.  Extended meaning the travel may account for up to 100% of the time and/or limit the ability to return home during off time.
