Description

This position will be responsible for ensuring timely purchasing within limited authority and approval levels as well as monitoring and following up to ensure on-time delivery.  Critical for success are strong communication skills within the department and the ability to represent Michels Corporation in a professional manner. 

The responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to:

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Conduct price and vendor research to obtain quotes.
  • Ensure timely execution of purchase orders and contract signatures from suppliers.
  • Support activities of personnel engaged in buying and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, parts and supplies.
  • Create recommendations on the best supplier of materials and services.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers and organizations.
  • Ensure materials are shipped and delivered in alignment with required schedule.
  • Maintain records in software system: create and edit purchase orders and manage vendor quote list.
  • Identify new supplier opportunities and complete initial research of supplier.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include an Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.   Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and have experience with eProcurement or eSourcing tools.  Other qualifications include exceptional organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
