About the Program to Improve Private Early Education (PIPE)

FSG launched PIPE in early 2015 to replace rote memorization techniques with activity based learning (ABL) in 300,000 affordable private schools (APS) in India. PIPE does this by getting parents to aspire and demand ABL and by getting eight private companies (‘partners’) to supply high quality activity based learning solutions at scale. PIPE works with its partners to help them recognize the business opportunity and address the challenges in serving the APS market. Once partners are convinced of the economic opportunity in the APS market, they will educate parents on benefits of their ABL solution thereby increasing demand for it, and will expand their services to millions of children.

The program is currently supported by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, Omidyar Network, UBS Optimus Foundation, Central Square Foundation, Douglas B. Marshall Jr. Family Foundation, Vitol Foundation, Aarti Foundation, HT Parekh Foundation, World Bank and IKEA Foundation.
