We are looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial partnership professional with a proven track record of developing and maintaining corporate and foundation relationships that lead to meaningful engagement and resource commitments. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Director of Global Partnerships will be a critical, senior Initiative team member helping achieve our goals of building shared value awareness and advancing the sophistication of shared value practice.  The successful candidate will be in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment in which dozens of corporate and foundation relationships are already established and can be leveraged to help build the next level of growth and innovation for the Initiative.

 

Responsibilities

 

The Associate Director of Global Partnerships will:

 

  • Build new relationships to grow the Initiative’s membership and partner base.  Priority new relationships to cultivate  include corporations (those adopting or considering shared value strategies) and foundation / government donors (those interested in working with the private sector around issues of importance to shared value)
    • Identify new partner targets, develop and deploy partner cultivation plans, and convert into new Shared Value Initiative corporate members or funders
    • Attend relevant events representing the Initiative while cultivating new relationships
    • Engage with FSG shared value consulting leaders to align partner cultivation efforts

 

  • Steward existing corporate and foundation relationships in partnership with the Executive Director and Associate Director of Programs to deepen the Initiative’s learning process
    • Contribute to the development of ongoing programming for Initiative partners
    • Conduct ongoing stewardship outreach conversations to track with latest partner experiences and needs in shared value

 

  • Develop a nuanced understanding of the shared value concept in order to improve effectiveness when cultivating and managing corporate and foundation relationships
    • Contribute to shared value knowledge development such as through blogging and other informal social media communications
    • Contribute to shared value knowledge sharing through external and internal shared value practitioner engagement
    • Engage with FSG shared value consulting leaders to identify emerging shared value trends

 

  • Contribute to Initiative team leadership and overall strategic direction
    • Project an asset-based, generative leadership presence on the Initiative team
    • Identify emerging shared value trends and highlight implications on Initiative’s strategic direction

 

Requirements

 

  • 8-to-10 years of partnership development experience in a fast-paced, high-performing office environment with a proven track record of membership sales or related resource commitments like grant funding in particular with corporations and foundations
  • Global perspective on partnership development, including ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time and adapt to different cultures
  • Exceptional time management skills with ability to support high-paced, nimble initiative
  • Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and the willingness to take initiative to get the job done
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; prior publications and public speaking experience a plus
  • Comfortable communicating across various staff levels within Initiative partners
  • Independent worker with a strong attention to detail and follow-up skills; able to take the lead role in all areas of the role’s responsibilities
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other relevant Master’s degree preferred

 

This is a full-time position located in our Boston office. Salary is competitive for the position and non-profit sector; it also includes a generous benefits package. As part of those benefits, FSG offers 100% paid health insurance for its full-time employees as well as disability and life insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan. Note visa sponsorship is not available for our US offices. In addition, we are unable to support the OPT Training visa, as this visa will eventually require sponsorship.
