What we seek

We are looking for a hands-on Software Quality Assurance Manager to lead a small SQA team and drive process improvements that help Evolv release robust, high quality software faster. As we grow, we are investing in a CI/CD test automation framework to help speed regression testing, monitor test coverage, and track quality metrics, all with the goal of repeatable, maintainable, and measurable processes for releasing more reliable software. We need an experienced manager to both oversee and participate in day-to-day SQA activities and to take a strategic leadership view of our development, test, and release processes to help make them better. Our products include electro-mechanical Windows-based personnel scanners w/Android tablet GUIs, facial recognition systems and cloud dashboards. As our SQA Manager you will:

  • Help specify and create our automated test framework
  • Build the software quality infrastructure and processes at Evolv
  • Manage, mentor, and coach the software quality assurance team to implement our testing processes, including software and hardware release processes
  • Improve processes and tools to release more robust software more quickly, improve quality and efficiency
  • Participate in project meetings and plan SQA efforts through the complete software lifecycle
  • Coordinate, estimate, plan, and manage testing activities, ensuring that quality issues and defects are appropriately identified, documented, tracked, and resolved
  • Perform manual and automated testing while identifying and communicating defects and risks
  • Conduct bug reviews with our development team and product management
  • Report defects and raise issues or concerns to the project team

 

What you bring

You have at least three to five years of SQA management experience, a passion for quality, and a track record of at least five successful projects or major code releases delivered start to finish. You also have prior experience growing an organization’s quality infrastructure and enjoy the challenges associated with introducing automated tests. You have strong knowledge of testing methodologies such as UAT, black- and white-box testing, system testing, and regression testing. The ideal candidate has experience in the security systems industry on products involving embedded software, wireless, radio, networking, and automated sensing technologies. You are eager to learn and keep current with new technologies to improve software quality and engineering processes. You thrive on a small team in a fast-paced agile environment.

The following skills are required:

  • BS in Computer Science, System Engineering or related field
  • Experience with test automation platforms such as Selenium, Jenkins, Taiko or similar
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps and CI/CD development environments
  • Familiarity with OSI networking protocols, security protocols (VPN/TLS) and ethernet and wi-fi networking
  • Experience working in agile (scrum and Kanban) development methodologies, specifically Jira and Confluence
  • Prior coding experience in a high -level language such as C, C++, C# or Java
  • Methodical, detail oriented, and well organized
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, applications, and testing standards
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

These skills are a plus:

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, or Perl
  • Familiarity with AWS services
  • Prior experience with web technologies such as Angular, NodeJS, JavaScript
