  • Aurora is searching for talented Aerospace Manufacturing Engineers to support the development of advanced unmanned aircraft systems. 
  • This position will focus on the manufacturing planning and integration of avionics, electrical harnessing, propulsion, and mechanical subsystems into a complete aircraft system.

  • Candidates must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident/Green Card Holder) and normally possess at least one of the following engineering degrees:
    • Mechanical
    • Electrical
    • Aerospace/Aeronautical


  • The Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for supporting the maturation of the company’s technical capabilities with sound and practical solutions using advanced technology for work processes, tools, and organization for the assigned program. 
  • The engineer will also:
    • Provide engineering support for avionics, wire harness, and subsystem design / assembly and related processes; make recommendations for manufacturing improvements
    • Manage subsystems Bill of Materials (BOM) generation and Detailed Work Instruction planning within MRP system (SAP ByDesign experience preferred)
    • Improve manufacturing processes to improve quality and ease of manufacturing
    • Maintain documentation of changes to subsystem assemblies
    • Implement process improvements to improve part quality, reduce cycle time and cost
    • Provide input for effective and efficient resolution of technical problems at the direction of engineering management
  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident/Green Card Holder)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • Three or more years working in electrical and subsystems prototype / manufacturing environment
  • Experience utilizing ERP/MRP planning systems and Bill of Material interrogation for manufacturing process planning
  • Experience working in aerospace avionics and subsystems assembly
  • Experience working with other engineers as well as manufacturing technicians to produce a product
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately deal with multiple tasks ensuring timely completion
  • Experience with basic mechanical CAD/CAM or electrical harness design in any software package
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • 75% travel for 3-6 months after date of hire (travel planned for Manassas, VA)
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment as well as lift and transport objects up to 40 pounds; position requires standing, bending, crouching, climbing, and kneeling


  • Experience with GD&T and blueprint reading / model interrogation
  • Participation in manufacturing Material Review Board (MRB) / engineering Change Control Board (CCB) activities; recommending and implementing corrective actions
  • Experience generating procedures that implement operational and/or fiscal policies
  • Experience with CATIA and Mastercam
  • Experience with NC programming
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio
  • Hands-on electrical harnessing, avionics LRU, and vehicle subsystem fabrication, assembly, and testing
  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification
