Description of Position

          Title:               Food Production - Sales/Business Development Professional

  Location:        Dallas, TX

  Reports To:    GCI Plant General Manager and Division CEO

   Date:               July 2017


The Sales/Business Development Professional will lead and drive sustainable sales growth for Gourmet Cuisine and Cite Gourmande by offering new products to existing customers, and securing new retail and food service customers.

This bright and ambitious Business Development Professional will help expand our clientele. This position will be the “face” of the company, and will have the dedication to create and apply effective sales strategies to grow our customer base and business.


New Business Development

  • Research, prospect, and identify new potential clients, and the decision makers within the target organization.

  • Cold call as appropriate.  

  • Plan approaches and presentations.  Work with our internal team to develop proposals that speak to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.

  • Work with internal staff to ensure that vendor prerequisites are fulfilled within a timely manner.

  • Build relationships with new clients.

  • Expand client relationships by introducing GCI leaders to client decision makers.

  • Increase the client base by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your client network.

  • Participate in pricing the solution/service.

  • Handle client objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion.

Client Retention

  • Stay in touch with current clients, and enhance the existing relationship.

  • Present new products and services to existing clients.

  • Work with manufacturing/production teams and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.

  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs. 

New Business Planning

  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.

  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.

  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a goal of developing new services, products, and distribution channels.

  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.

Management Reporting

  • Submit weekly sales progress reports.  

  • Ensure that sales progress data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s CRM or other sales management system.

  • Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team.

  • Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet sales target goals.


            Work Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Minimum of 5 years successful Sales Experience in the Food Manufacturing/Food Service industry.   

    • Experience in prospecting, research, networking, sales planning, cold calling, presentations, identification of customer needs & challenges, negotiations, closing.

  • Outstanding organizational skills

  • Experience in working with a CRM system

  • PC skills to include MS Word and MS Excel        

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with targeted clients

  • Ability to be self-managed and self-motivated

  • College degree in the areas of Business, Marketing, Food Science or other related fields. MBA is a plus.
