Communications Associate

The West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is dedicated to furthering the ideals and promoting the welfare of the United States Military Academy (USMA), and to supporting and serving its graduates. USMA is renowned as one of the world's preeminent leader development institutions.  The student body, or Corps of Cadets, numbers 4,400 and each year approximately 1,000 cadets graduate and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.

West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is seeking a Communications Associate within the Department of Development Engagement for a part-time assignment.

The Communications Associate completes various tasks in support of the Development Engagement Department in the areas of donor relations, acknowledgement, and stewardship.  Effectively communicates with all levels of donors to West Point and other members of the Development team.  Implements and improves office procedures to ensure maximum efficiency and economy while maintaining the highest quality output.  Uses time management skills to balance multiple work responsibilities and projects as required by the Senior Director. Guidance and direction for office management comes through the Senior Director.

The incumbent is responsible for writing content/editing/proofreading for multiple platforms, including print, email, web, and social media; creating Development materials for specific fundraising needs; assisting with special stewardship projects; assisting with Vice President and Superintendent acknowledgment letters; and coordinating and maintaining the overall Development communications workflow, integrate it with WPAOG Communications & Marketing calendar.

Strong organizational and analytical skills, strict attention to detail, and excellent oral and written communications are required.  The incumbent must be an experienced writer with strong communications skills, including editing and proofreading; have strong computer proficiency, to include functional skills in word processing, database management and manipulation, spreadsheet utility, communications and web-based applications; and have the ability to work collaboratively in advancing the goals and mission of the organization.

In addition, thorough knowledge of the West Point Association of Graduates and the United States Military Academy is preferred.

A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred or high school diploma plus three years administrative experience.  Please submit cover letter, resume, and letters of reference.
