Integrated Voter Engagement Manager – PICO National Network

PICO National Network is the largest grassroots faith-based community organizing network in the United States. For 40 years, PICO has brought people of faith together to advance racial and economic justice. Through a network of 45 faith-based organizations and 1,200 religious congregations, PICO provides an opportunity for thousands of volunteer leaders to stand up and be heard on the public and corporate decisions that most directly shape their lives.

PICO organizations have successfully changed public policies at the local, state and federal level that have helped families obtain affordable health coverage for themselves and their children, provide their children with a better education, protection for immigrants, reduction in private prisons, sentencing reform, increased minimum wage, earned sick time provisions, home foreclosure prevention, and secure good jobs. Through an innovative campaign infrastructure that ties together grassroots people-led organizing in more than 200 cities and towns and 20 states with large-scale efforts to change federal policy, PICO is currently leading campaigns to protect healthcare, end mass incarceration, reduce gun violence, keep immigrant families together, and build an economy where people can work with dignity and take care of those they love.

Position Overview:

The Integrated Voter Engagement Manager will work with staff across the network to plan and carry out voter engagement programs that build governing power to move our agenda locally, in states and nationally. These programs must further strategies that are rooted in strong racial, gender and class analysis.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead PICO’s voter engagement work, coordinating across local, state and federal elections, and driving voter engagement between elections around our issue work
  • Train staff and leaders to plan and execute effective voter engagement strategies & tactics to drive our agenda forward
  • Bring a strong racial, gender and class analysis to all of our Integrated Voter Engagement work, and to internal and external partnerships
  • Proactively lead research and analysis of the electoral landscape to facilitate national and state decision making
  • Coordinate PICO’s Integrated Voter Engagement research program with academic and network partners
  • Lead national fundraising efforts for our voter engagement programs
  • Lead a data-driven program, with clear metrics, solid reporting, and regular analysis 
  • Plan for PICO’s census and redistricting strategies
  • Coordinate with allies nationally and in states
  • Help PICO innovate new methods for voter contact, including integration of social media
  • Manage PICO’s voter engagement staff, contractors, and consultants
  • Provide timely and accurate program reports

Qualifications:

  • Management experience in electoral campaigns—independent, ballot or candidate
  • Experience planning, leading and evaluating successful field organizing programs
  • Knowledge of how to effectively strategize and use field organizing tactics including but not limited to canvasses, phone banks, texting and social media outreach with both volunteers and paid staff.
  • Proven leadership around the intersection of race/gender/class and civic engagement
  • Cultural competency to work in a multicultural, multi-faith environment
  • Commitment to cultural sensitivity and respect for differences
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and populations; Ability to be inclusive and respectful of differences
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral); the ability to effectively communicate technical subjects to others
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with close attention paid to detail
  • Effective time management skills, including demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Experience in the use of data and analytics to drive effective decision-making in organizing, issue, and/or electoral organizing
  • Ability to work virtually by video/phone and to travel regularly
