Project Engineer

Schuchart has an immediate opening for a hard-working, self-motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Project Engineer.  Responsibilities will include working with the Project Manager to solicit bids from subcontractors, quantity take-off and estimating, attending project meetings and writing/distributing meeting notes, interacting with clients and subcontractors in a professional manner, managing the RFI and Submittal process, shop drawing review, assisting with developing the project schedule, assisting with material and subcontractor procurement, project closeout research and documentation, organizing and maintaining project files, and other special projects as needed.

Skills Required:

  • Solid background in construction means and methods
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret blue prints and shop drawings
  • Estimating experience a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs including Excel, Word, Project, Bluebeam and Outlook
  • AutoCAD, BIM, Procore and OnScreen Take-off a plus, but not required
  • Spectrum job cost accounting software preferable but not required
  • Self-starter; able to juggle multiple tasks and projects at once
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Organized and professional
  • Ability to effectively lead and communicate with entire project team
  • Ability to effectively facilitate project meetings
  • Able to foster outstanding customer service and positive client relationships

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year experience as a Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager with a General Contractor in the commercial construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Architecture preferred (commensurate field experience will be considered).
  • Experience in commercial construction projects.
