Position Summary:

The Business Development Analyst will play a critical role in supporting, developing, and improving Next Street’s business development and knowledge management infrastructure in partnership with firm leadership and market-based delivery teams. As a small firm, we offer significant opportunity to stretch and we are seeking candidates with an entrepreneurial drive, a collaborative spirit, and an appetite to contribute in building the firm. The Analyst will report to our Director of Strategy, Finance, & Operations, with significant day-to-day collaboration across our Market and Corporate leadership teams.

Your work:

  • Work with Corporate and Market leadership to better build and streamline Next Street’s business development (BD) infrastructure in partnership with the External Relations Manager, such as:
    • Standardizing templates for proposals, pricing worksheets, pitch decks, or other BD collateral
    • Building and enforcing process controls for consistency and streamlining
    • Managing and improving BD systems / reporting (e.g., Salesforce)
    • Systematizing our creation and collection of standard BD needs such as certifications / filings, staff bios / resumes, firm qualifications / experience summaries, etc.
    • Cross-integrating insights gleaned from BD processes and external relations efforts
  • Partner with client relationship leads and in-market office operations staff to ensure that overall business development processes and pipelines are proactively and properly managed, with the goals of:
    • Proper maintenance of all prospect and client data in firm systems (e.g., Salesforce)
    • Accurate and timely reporting of the BD dashboard, pipeline, and/or other related reports
    • Informed BD discussions across weekly management team and in-market meetings
  • Support market leadership and client relationship leads firm-wide as they develop business development-related content for new prospects as well as roll / upsell opportunities, including but not limited to:
    • Brainstorming and pulling relevant ‘best of’ content from past proposals, relevant work, and a growing database of standard collateral
    • Helping to outline first cuts of materials (including proposals, pricing worksheets, RFPs) based on standard templates, ‘best of’ content, and basic prospect knowledge
    • Supporting market teams as appropriate as they iterate from draft to final client documents
  • Work with Corporate and Market leadership to prioritize, develop, and actively utilize knowledge management (KM) infrastructure across the firm, such as:
    • Improving our tools and systematizing our use of engagement kickoffs and closeouts
    • Building repositories of insights gained through these processes and integrating ‘backwards’ into broader BD and KM processes / infrastructure development over time
    • Partnering with market teams on collateral development in priority areas identified
    • Developing solutions to knowledge management ‘pain points’ for delivery teams
    • Supporting the coordination of internal knowledge sharing forums
  • Partner with the firm’s External Relations Manager to establish and coordinate a program for codifying and sharing firm thought-content / knowledge pieces externally, including:
    • Identifying key topic areas for establishing a firm perspective and supporting targeted research
    • Formalizing and streamlining the internal content development process
  • Support the Corporate leadership team in other firm-level strategic business development initiatives or special projects

We are looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance
  • Experience working in a professional environment, preferably with direct experience supporting business development activities or similar functions (fundraising, development)
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) as well as an ability and appetite to learn new systems and processes quickly; experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) a plus
  • Excellent planning, prioritization, and organizational skills, including the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative research and analysis
  • A desire to build a business and an appetite to take entrepreneurial initiative
  • A demonstrated capacity for collaboration and teamwork at all levels of tenure
  • A strong desire to continuously learn through work across industries, client segments, and communities of practice
  • A willingness to challenge and be challenged, regardless of seniority
