About the Position:
We are seeking an experienced restoration design engineer to join our expert team of planners, hydrologists, geomorphologists, and engineers in the Bay Area (Petaluma or Oakland office preferred). The position includes management and leadership of innovative, science-based habitat restoration projects varying in scale and complexity in rivers, creeks and wetlands. Many of our multi-objective projects often involve direct collaboration with ESA’s Biology, Cultural Resources and Permitting practitioners as well as coordination with other project teaming partners. Primary responsibilities include leading the development and production of engineering plans and specifications, basis-of-design documents, and cost estimates; and providing construction support. This is a project management position with that requires effective staff, schedule and budget management as well as business development and contract acquisition activities.
The minimum requirements for this position are a B.S. or higher degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field, a valid (or pending) professional engineer’s license (P.E.), and 4 years of relevant work experience. Training and/or experience working in California watershed systems including hydrology and hydrologic modeling, hydraulic analysis, AutoCAD Civil 3D, fluvial or estuarine geomorphology, fish passage, design of habitat structures, project permitting, project management, staff supervision and business development are desirable. You must have excellent writing skills and the ability to verbally communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
ESA works primarily in California, but has projects throughout the West and beyond; some travel is required.
