About the Position:
ESA is currently seeking an Environmental Compliance Leader to join our Northern California region. We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic environmental compliance specialist to lead our program for supporting mid- to large-scale projects involving compliance monitoring during construction. The selected candidate will have direct, on-the-ground experience in environmental compliance monitoring for land development and/or large-scale infrastructure projects and programs, including linear projects. The selected candidate will have excellent communication skills and experience working with client/owners, construction and field monitoring crews, and regulators. The selected candidate will also have a strong working knowledge of relevant environmental regulations, and experience with compliance monitoring tracking systems and databases, field safety procedures, project financial management and accounting, and scheduling tools.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, biology or archaeology or a closely related field with at least 10-15 years relevant work experience. Experience with a private consulting firm is preferred; however, a combination of public and private sector experience is acceptable. Demonstrated and broad-based experience in the Northern California region and previous experience supporting compliance monitoring for large construction projects with significant permitting issues related to biology, wetlands, cultural resources, and other relevant compliance issues. Knowledge of use of compliance tracking systems is also desired. The selected candidate will have demonstrated leadership abilities, supervisory skills, and strong writing and communication skills. The position can be located in any of ESA’s northern California offices, but substantial time will be spent in our Sacramento office and overnight travel to project sites around the region will be required.
